In this episode of The Marvelle Edit, we're joined by Brian Johnstone of Carbon Zero to talk about what it really means to create more sustainable events, and the practical steps event managers can take to reduce their environmental impact.
With over 20 years’ experience as an environmental engineer, our MD Jill Butler Rennie’s collaboration with Carbon Zero on our Event Emissions Calculator was a natural fit. The calculator measures emissions across venues, travel, catering, production, materials and waste, helping organisers identify where the biggest impacts lie and make informed choices to reduce them.
Brian shares his expertise on carbon measurement and reduction, while we look at the realities of putting sustainability into practice within the events industry. What makes the biggest difference? Where should organisers focus their efforts? And how do we balance sustainability with budget, logistics and creating a great guest experience?
Sustainable events aren't about removing everything that makes an event memorable. They're about understanding the impact of the choices we make and finding better ways to deliver great experiences.
Whether you're an event organiser, venue, supplier or business responsible for events, this episode offers practical insight into measuring event emissions and creating events with a lower environmental impact.
